The model Flexible Process Line with one machine tool simulates a flexible manufacturing line with one machine tool, as used for example in serial production of metal cutting industries, which is automated in a large degree.
The Flexible Process Line with one machine tool consists of one conveyor belt including an encoder, a machine tool and register storage with pusher to bring parts into the system. The simulated process shows a work piece being provided at a register storage, then being brought into the manufacturing line by a pusher in the register storage, getting machined by the machine tool and finally being brought out to a discharge station: After starting the process by a PLC, the pusher brings he work piece to the conveyor belt.
The conveyor belt brings the part to the machine tool, a vertical milling machine. The spindle starts rotating. After a certain time the spindle stands still. The complete work piece is brought out to a discharge station by the conveyor belt afterwards. The positions of the part on conveyor belt are in each case indicated by Reed switches. The conveyor belt can be stopped at anytime by getting a signal of the encoder to position the work piece e. g. for checking.
