Wilo-Brain Box classic plus
with Micro Bubble Deaerator and Sludge Separator

Item No.: 95485

The Wilo-Brain Box classic plus: A heating system in miniature

Real heating systems extend over the whole house. Much of it is not visible because it is concealed or insulated. The Wilo-Brain Box classic plus is different: All essential components of heating systems are combined on a mobile test stand. They are - partly transparent - connected by pipes in such a way that the heating process can be almost completely reproduced. This means that almost everything that customers complain about as defects in heating systems can be demonstrated on the Brain Box and also professionally remedied. Examples are:

  • Frequent criticism is that heating systems are too loud (rushing, gurgling)
  • Some radiators get too hot, others hardly get warm at all
  • Incorrectly dimensioned circulating pumps require a lot of electricity and sometimes become the largest electrical consumer in the house

On the Wilo-Brain Box classic plus you can experience how such problems can be solved professionally.

The Wolo-Brain Box classic plus with its mobile structure is well suited for use in different locations. All that is required of the premises for operation is a 220 V power connection and the ability to fill the box with five litres of water.

Operation is safe because pressures are unproblematically low and temperatures do not usually exceed 30°C. What may happen is that when plugging in or unplugging the plug connections for carrying out the various experiments in pressurized sections of the line, a brief outflow or splashing of an air-water mixture is possible. But nobody gets really wet.

In addition to the proven Wilo-Brain Box classic plus, the special version with additional micro-bubble deaerator and with sludge separator is now also available.

With the Wilo-Brain Box classic plus, experiments can be carried out on the following subjects, among others. For all the topics mentioned, there is a detailed experiment manual in digital form.

Pump and control:

  • Pipe network characteristic curve
  • Pump characteristic curve of the uncontrolled heating circulation pump
  • Pump characteristic curve of the high-efficiency pump
  • Electrical power consumption of the unregulated heating circulating pump
  • Electronic power consumption of the high-efficiency pump

Hydraulics:

  • Hydraulic and electrical behaviour of a high-efficiency pump when installing a relief valve
  • Hydraulic and electrical behaviour of a high-efficiency pump when installing a bypass with overflow valve
  • Hydraulic behaviour of a heat distribution system with unbalanced heat consumers
  • Hydraulic balancing of radiators with thermostatic valves
  • Hydraulic balancing of the line with differential pressure regulator
  • Hydraulic behaviour of the heating circuit when using volume flow limiters
  • Hydraulic behaviour of the heating circuit when using string control valves

Pressure maintenance:

  • Pressure losses in pipelines
  • Pressure drop in the heat distribution system or faulty inlet pressure
  • Filling of heating systems
  • Defective or incorrectly adjusted MAG

Venting:

  • Venting of heating systems
  • Comparison of the venting devices
  • Effectiveness of the venting devices
  • Mounting location for air pot

Commissioning / Maintenance / Service:

  • Commissioning of the heating system
  • Maintenance tasks, e.g. strainer blocked, air vent incorrectly positioned, etc.

For each test there is a detailed description of the learning objectives, the test setup, the test procedure and the knowledge gained.

In addition to the actual descriptions of the experiments, the didactic materials also include detailed descriptions of eleven different practical learning situations. Each learning situation consists of one or more video sequences with accompanying working material and is directly related to the experiments in the experiment instructions.

The experiment instructions and all didactic materials are available in electronic form.
