With this new design, the solenoid valve and the valve body have been moved downwards compared to previous injectors and are located directly above the nozzle needle. The long and sluggish pressure rod is no longer required. This enables fast switching times, even with solenoid valves. Furthermore, a helical groove is milled into the nozzle needle. This creates an optimum spray jet of fuel when it leaves the injection nozzle.
