The Parcel-Turnover-Model is simulating a machine for automatically turning over piece goods, mostly used in logistics business.

The Parcel-Turnover-Model consists of a 90-Degree-Slewing-Mechanism, electro-optical sensor system to detect positions, three electrically driven pushers and a conveyor belt. The parcel is simulated by a wooden block. The address field is replaced by a side mounted reflector.

The simulation shows a parcel being turned as long as its address field is on top: Putting the parcel in the insert station starts the process. Then the block is pushed in the 90-Degree-Slewing-Mechanism, where its position is detected by a one-way light barrier. For getting information about the orientation of the address field, a reflection light scanner is used. If the orientation again is not on top, the parcel will be turned over and pushed back into the transfer line onto the conveyor belt. By conveying the block again in the 90-Degree-Slewing-Mechanism its orientation is checked once more. When the parcel’s orientation is right it will be moved back to the conveyor belt by the first pusher. The conveyor belt carries it to the end position. The end position is indicated by a dry reed contact.
