Christiani Industry Model Car Wash Line
with Drying Unit and Wheel Brushes

Stand Alone Model
Item No.: 14830

The model Car Wash Line simulates an automatically working washing and drying unit for cars as used e. g. in garages and gas stations. The car wash line consists of a rack being portable in its X-axis with a fan drier, a horizontal brush, two vertical brushes and two rim brushes attached on it. The simulated process shows a car model getting “washed“ and “dried“:

The rack moves in its -X-direction in order to bring the vertical brushes to the front of the car. The brushes start rotating and moving towards each other (Y-direction). After the reed-switch registries the brushes meeting, they commonly operate a to and fro movement, controlled by position switches. After this the brushes move back each in its outer end position, indicated by mechanical position switches. The rack starts moving in –X-direction again, while the horizontal brush starts rotating in –B-direction and the vertical brushes continue their rotation. The horizontal brush follows the shape of the car, controlled by two one way light barrier signals. When the rim brushes reach the front wheels and later the back wheels of the car, the translation of the rack stops for a short period to imitate a rim washing operation: The rim brushes start rotating and moving toward each other until a demanded position is reached. After a short rest, they are moved back to their outer end positions.

All positions of the rim brushes are indicated by reed-switches. By the vertical brushes reaching the back of the car the movement of the rack stops one more time and the two vertical brushes execute the same sequence as before at the front of the vehicle. During this time, the horizontal brush changes its direction of rotation to +B-direction in order to clean the rear window and the boot area of the car. After finishing this step, the vertical brushes move to their outer position and the horizontal brush moves in +Z-direction to its upper end position with all rotations being stopped. The fan drier follows the shape of the car also controlled by two one way light barrier signals to simulate a drying operation. The upper positions of the horizontal brush and the fan drier are each checked by reed-switches.
