The model Assembly Line simulates an automatically working assembly line, including sub-assembly stations and a final assembly station, as used for example in production of serial products, which are based on several components.
The assembly line consists of a conveyor belt, three sub-assembly stations, a final assembly station, sensor systems to recognize parts and several optical and acoustic signal devices. The simulated process simplistically shows transport and assembly steps of an implement, beginning with diverse components and finishing with the complete product, which is ready to be withdrawn from the assembly line:
Operating a mechanical switch at an assembly station starts the conveyor belt and the components are brought to this station. Inductive proximity switches, respectively a one way light barrier indicate reaching the right position. These sensors actuate an assembly process, which is represented by a light emitting diode. When the last step of assembly is done, a buzzer signals that the implement is completed and ready to be withdrawn from the assembly line.
