ThymioAI Bundle
the ideal entry point to understand artificial intelligence

for students from middle school onward
Item No.: 102827

Thymio II (Wireless) Roboter + alphai Software = ThymioAI Bundle Understanding artificial intelligence! How does Thymio II work with the alphai software?

The ThymioAI Bundle is the ideal way for students to learn about artificial intelligence, from machine learning to neural networks. A graphical user interface allows students to connect Thymio's sensors to a range of actions via a neural network: forward, backward, turn, rotate, etc.

Your possibilities with ThymioAI:

  • Take your first steps into the world of artificial intelligence
  • The no-code mode allows you to program Thymio without writing any code (for example, using Scratch 3.0). (Thymio also supports six other programming languages.)
  • Understand data-driven programming concepts and algorithms
  • Demonstrate how machine learning works

New technology, new teaching materials

The teaching materials, available for free download, contain 5 activities (6 lessons) that teach the basics of AI:

  1. First steps
  2. The arena
  3. Stay on track
  4. Keep moving
  5. The autonomous car

They were developed by our educational experts, who designed separate booklets for teachers and students.

Thymio II (Wireless) Thymio II is a robust and ready-to-use robot that allows students to get started in the world of robotics and programming in a wide range of levels.

The robust and ready-to-use robot comes with six pre-programmed modes that represent emotions such as "friendly," "curious," "exploring," and "cautious." In combination with the numerous tasks (on Activity Cards or as worksheets), the functionality of various robots and how they work with their sensors and actuators are explained step by step – including a real-world connection.

Thymio is equipped with numerous sensors (e.g., infrared sensors for distance measurement, buttons, a gyroscope, thermometer, microphone). This allows students to take their first steps in the world of programming in a symbol-based, intuitively operable, and free programming language Aseba (developed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ)). For more advanced students, Scratch 3.0, Blockly, and Python are available as ideal programming environments for the classroom.

Comprehensive teaching materials help you as a teacher not only to get started with the concept, but also to prepare and conduct the lesson. You can download worksheets, templates, and solutions for well over 50 tasks as a free download.

Incidentally, Thymio is an open-source learning robot developed by researchers from EPFL in collaboration with ECAL and produced by Mobsya. Mobsya is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing comprehensive and engaging STEM experiences for learners of all ages.

Features of the Thymio II:

  • A hole in the middle for attaching a pen
  • Hooks on the back for hanging other toys
  • Micro-SD slot for storing programs and data
